Is it dangerous not taking your thyroid medication?

I was prescribed Levothyroxine and have stopped taking it because I kept forgetting. What can happen?

Look up mydexema coma. It can happen in patients who are untreated with hypothyroidism. It's rare but deadly. If you are prescribed a med, take it.

Take it. Put a daily alarm. I put an alarm on so I can remember to take it. Especially important during pregnancy, need to check levels more often when pregnant because the dose changes.

My mom didn't not take it.. But they switched her dosage up and it messed her all up. Even in her thinking pattern. Once it was corrected, she was fine.

I have forgotten to take mine a few times and even forgot to refill it and went without it for a few days 🤦‍♀️ I don’t think it’s “dangerous” but I definitely feel like crap if I don’t take it.

Not particularly but it's prescribed for a reason. I had to take this for about a year and whenever I missed a pill that day I would feel pretty bad. I think it's dangerous to miss a dose here and there but could be a problem if you consistently forget to take it due to not having your hormone levels not being regulated
