Too much ?

I was talking to my mom and she was telling me that i pay too much attention to every noise my baby makes and i immediately pick him up, whether in the stroller or at nights when he’s sleeping. She was telling me to let him be and its ok for him to cry a little. She tells me my baby is studying my every move. She grew up in a big family with lots of babies and i barely been around babies and a ftm. I just can’t help it when he cries😅 What do you guys think of this generation parents vs old school parenting ? I know you cannot spoil babies this age but i know my baby knows cause and effect at this point

My husband tries to say the same to me. “They are old enough to cry” 
For me, it’s important that my children know that if they cry, I am there. I am their peace, their calm, their constant. My mother passed when I was 7 years old, so if I am here I am here for them.

During the day I’m more attentive to sounds. Mainly because I like a lot of interaction: talking, playing, etc. so if he’s fussing I’ll move him around, from his swing to his play mat or saucer or to hold him. 
During the night, however, I let him fuss for a bit to see if he can soothe himself back to sleep. If it’s a cry, I’m up immediately to feed him. 
Although they do study your every move (I fully believe this).. at this age there isn’t a way for them to ‘entertain’ themselves so you need to be alert to their sounds and needs

I get this and I don’t pay any attention its my baby and if i want to pick him up and cuddle him nobody’s comments are gonna stop me.

You said it yourself: you cannot spoil babies. Babies make noises and cry to communicate. Being fed, dry, and safe are such minimal standards to hold infant interactions to; socially, babies need communication and responsiveness to their needs in order to form meaningful connections with their caregivers. My vote is pick that baby up, snuggle them, and tell anyone who gives advice to the contrary that it’s your kid and your rules ❤️

I was a lot more attentive to my first born because let’s face it, I was a first time mom and attention was on her. She is now two and with my son I’m way more relaxed when he cries. Sometimes he’ll start to fuss and I’ll try to finish a few more tasks (like use the restroom, feed the toddler) and by the time I’m ready to pick him up he’s fallen asleep. He is by far my easier baby but I don’t know if that’s just his personality or if I caused my daughter to be high maintenance.

I think crying and noises are the babies only way of communicating so it’s not too much to respond to them. That’s what I always told my family with my first if they made similar comments.

You can’t spoil a baby, but a little fussing or crying here and there for short periods of time isn’t detrimental. Finish whatever you need to do then go to baby.

I mean there's a différence between a noise or a button normal fussing to get comfortable and a cry or crying. I agree that this is the only way for baby boy communicate to you their needs. It may simply mean they are bored of their environment, need a change of scenery. It may mean they need a cuddle, reassurance or help getting to sleep, they may need food. I think only you know best. You are the mum.
