Pinching?

Anyone use this as a form of discipline? 
FYI: I'm not asking your opinion of spanking blah blah blah. 
I am simply curious if anyone uses this method and how it works.

No I don't do that. The only time I would possibly do that is if she does it to me, I might do it back only so she understands that it hurts and then I would probably just put her in her crib by herself for a bit. I would explain to her that it hurts and it's not ok to do that. If she does it a few more times, I might remind her what it feels like and then into the crib she goes. After a few times, it would be straight to the crib. I would explain every single time before getting her out again why she was in there.  If she starts a tantrum then she can stay in the a bit longer. Consistency with explanation as many times as it takes. I will not tolerate disrespectful behavior but also careful to not teach it either.

Please do not pinch your child as a form of punishment. If you want to teach your child that it’s never okay to put their hands on someone else, use simple words and explanations to communicate with them. If they have clearly crossed a line that they know expectations for, a short time out (one minute per year old) with an explanation after the time out.

I have only heard of that in the old fashioned sense to discipline toddler from pinching. Have I used it? No.

I personally wouldn't because I feel like my daughter would then think it's okay to pinch us. We've spanked her hand a few times and then she began to think she could do it back to us so now we just stick to telling her no and spanking her bum if she's in danger or doing something really bad.

I’m confused? Pinching your baby as punishment? Also, I do gentle parenting, no physical punishment in general, especially not this early- 17m.. toddlers can’t regulate or express their emotions as well as adults. Patience is key for sure.
