Is it normal for my doctor not to be concerned?

I am currently 18 weeks and 1 day pregnant and I have had severe morning sickness since 6 weeks. I lost 10 pounds in my first trimester and have now lost 5 more in my second so far. The only medication I am prescribed is Zofran 3mg and my doctor told me there is nothing else I can take and that I am at the max dosage. Is this true or should I switch doctors? I lost my job because I am not sleeping in the night due to vomiting and I am throwing up violently every single day almost all day. Any help or tips would be appreciated!

We tried two different medications. The doxylamine worked best for me.

Vitamin B6 and Unisom! The unisom will make you drowsy but if you aren’t sleeping that will help you sleep too!

Oh girl I know how your feeling. He’s right about the Zofran however there are other things you can try. Peppermint candy. Peppermint oil on your feet and in a little cup just so you can smell it. Sea bands. Target has a ton of stuff by the tests. Also, you can vitamin b6 and unisom. Take them together. It may make u sleepy so take it at night. Try and stay hydrated. Drink water before you throw up so Atleast your throwing up something. I found that a little less harsh than bile coming up all the time. I got GERD from it. If u can drink those ensures then try that also. They can also try you on Phenergen (?). They make those in suppository form if you can swallow them. Good luck. Don’t be afraid to head to the er for fluids. They can check your vitamins and mineral counts to make sure you aren’t low and Iv fluids and meds def help since you don’t have to drink them. Trust me, you don’t want to be stuck in the hospital for 2 months with a central line  in your neck or a picc line. I had to get TPN for 2 months because I lost 35lbs. Once dehydrated it’s hard to come back from on your own. Good luck mama!!

My girlfriend was very sick in her pregnancy as well. Her issue was the mucus in her throat was so thick from certain things that it would make her puke! She did a nasal spray and mucinex daily. She had Zofran for extra support. She always carried peppermint candy and gum. She also had the sea bands! She couldn’t eat any sweets because it would thicken the mucus and make her puke. Plus her baby didn’t like sweets. If you’re puking a lot, I would avoid dairy as that can also thicken the mucus and make you sick! Best of luck!

Switch doctors! There is definitely a lot better pregnancy safe nausea medication that will work far better than Zofran and 3mg is a weak dose. I’m a licensed nurse. You do not need to suffer. No medication will completely get rid of it but will improve your symptoms
