Nest as a baby monitor?

Currently we use Infant Optics, and I really like the monitor. However, we are upgrading our house to have all Nest products, including security.

My husband wants to have a Nest indoor camera in each child’s room. I know I won’t be able to know the temperature and such, but does the Nest camera function well as a monitor? Has anyone tried it?

We have the Google Home Hub. So I can stream all the cameras, so it won’t be an issue of relying on my cell phone.

Thoughts? Experiences?
