What age should we stop the sleepovers

My best friend and I got pregnant around the same time. She had her son a few days after I had my daughter. So they grew up together. She and her son even lived with us at one point. Our kids grew up as best friends and we would let them have sleepovers either at our house or ny besties house. They've always had each other's back and it's been like a siblings bond. However they are 11 almost 12 and will be goin through puberty soon. Is it about time we stop the sleepovers? Or what age should we stop. They haven't given us any indication they are feeling sexual. They always would just hang out together in the living room.m and watch SpongeBob or play Ninja turtles. But it won't be SpongeBob and ninja turtles forever. Shoukd we stop the sleepovers now? Or when should we stop them?

I would say it’s ok to continue but that they need to sleep in separate rooms now that they are coming into puberty. I wouldn’t make it awkward just “hey, you guys are getting older and I think it’s time you sleep in separate rooms” kinda thing.

Not that this will happen, but i saw a person post the same scenario but things ended up happening between the kids and it caused serious issues with the parents. However, I’ve had a friend I grew up with, we were born a month apart and our parents were best friends and him and I have slept in the same bed multiple times until I moved out at 18 and things ever happened or even came close to it because we were like siblings. That’s kind of hard to predict how it will turn out.

This is tough, honestly. You don’t want them to feel ashamed of their bodies but I do get where you’re coming from... I don’t really have any advice but as someone that started around 11/12, I just want to mention that you should be careful when explaining why they can’t have sleepovers anymore.

I feel like you should talk to your friend first about how y'all would feel if they started dating or started being sexual (just remember that whether it happens or not isn't your decision). You'll also want to talk to your daughter about sex, puberty, & being safe. I wouldn't stop the sleepovers. That can make them feel like they aren't allowed to see each other or something to that effect. However, you can have them sleep in different rooms.
