No Ultrasound until Anatomy Scan?!

Anyone else get told they will not have an ultrasound until the anatomy scan?? I got a first trimester ultrasound pic of my son last pregnancy?? Is this because of Covid? If I ask will they do it? I find this crazy!

I’m in the same situation , no ultrasound until 18-20 weeks. I peopled a private scan for 12 weeks because I can’t wait that long lol

Yes!! For my first pregnancy, I was told it wasn’t medically necessary to have one before the anatomy scan. It really upset me. This time, I told my doctor that my period was irregular so I got to have a dating ultrasound.

I had a dating ultrasound because I had no idea how far along I was, and today I’m having another 12 week scan. I’d be sad to not have one until 20ish weeks! I thought they always did a dating ultrasound around 12 weeks🤷🏻‍♀️ Sorry girl!!

I think it also depends on your pregnancy and doctor. I’m 12 weeks now and I’ve had 4. I’m also high risk due to health issues and the loss of our daughter with our last pregnancy. I’m so sorry! I ordered a Doppler that was only $50 online and that helps hearing the heartbeat in between doctor visits. You could always look into that!

I’ve always had an US at the first appointment, and then the NT scan around 13 weeks to check the fluid behind the neck, and then my anatomy scan wasn’t until 19 weeks with my son. I didn’t have anymore after that.

Same here. I received 2 with my daughter in 2018. I don’t think it’s covid-related. Many doctors won’t offer multiple sonograms because they aren’t medically necessary and insurance won’t necessarily cover them if you are in US). So if all is well, you aren’t high risk, etc., then I’ve been told this is normal. It depends on your doctor, where you’re from, etc.

That’s nuts! I have had 4 sonograms before my anatomy scan. I am a little higher risk, but nothing crazy.
