Is it okay to leave a dog alone in the car for 20 minutes? (During cold weather)
During cold weather do there is absolutely no danger of heat. 
For example you have your dog with you and need to make a quick stop at the grocery store. You leave your dog in the car since it’s cold outside and there is no danger from over heating in the car. You are in the store for about 20 minutes. It’s this perfectly fine or a irresponsible dog owner?

I voted yes it's fine, but not for 20 minutes. If you're going to be that long leave your dog at home.
When we only had our one dog, leaving her alone outside of the regular work hours she was used to was stressful to her and she would act out a lot, and she even managed to get out the bedroom window a few times (very surprising to us considering she was so small). We lived in a complex with a garden but the complex kids were extremely disrespectful and annoying so it was safer to keep her in the house (they would just walk into our yard to try play with our dog, leave the gate open or they would actually take the mesh I had around the fence for our dog off so they could do whatever with it, they were infuriating).
So I often took her with me to the shops, but only if I was going to be quick. She was always very happy to sit in the car and have her little car ride. I don't do it anymore because we've got four dogs now so it's a bit harder to just pop them in the car.

I would and have if it was just a quick run into the convenience store. Or if i forgot something in the house. Probably not to go grocery shopping though.

The dog wouldn't be in the cold for very long considering you'd have the car running getting there so it would be warm for a bit from that and as long as the dog isn't the type to start chewing on your seats it's fine.

How cold? Here it can get to -30f, and I would never leave my dog in a car without it running for any amount of time at that temp
Anything below freezing (32f) and I wouldn't leave my dog in the car 
My dogs stay in the car if it's between about 30-60f, they grew up traveling with us and are well behaved (aka, they just sleep or quietly stare out the windows and wait patiently) so I feel comfortable leaving them for a bit

I thought about this the other day. I had to pickup my dog from the groomer, but I was already running late getting her since we had to sign closing documents for our refinance, AND I still had to go to Walmart. 
I live 15-20 minutes north of town and didn’t want to pick her up, drive home, and go back out. It was about 45° F outside and she would have been in the car with cracked windows. I was still worried some asshat would call the cops on me even though it would have been relatively comfortable for her. She’s friendly and wouldn’t have barked or lunged at windows. 
I ended up taking her home and going back out.

My dog will come with us at time and if not then hes at home outside because that's what he prefers when we are gone so it wouldn't matter either way lol
