Update:Would you be upset if you got this for xmas?

My boyfriend and I have been together for over 3 years. We have a long history , but we have been solid for 3 years. We live together..he has children and I am very active in their lives. It has been known that I want a ring. Not an engagement ring, Because I know he is hesitant to marry again..and I understand. Part of me Doesnt want to marry either. Our current status suits us both. I would just love a ring..a symbol of love between us. And maybe men would.stop asking me where my ring is. However, a couple of weeks ago, he ia tilting his phone away from me. I say..what you doing? And he goes " lookin at rings, quit looking". So for the past 2 weeks leading up to christmas..I have been so giddy and excited.

So its christmas last night and I open my final box. Its a huge box. With another box inside. That box has another box. So on and so forth...i finally get to the small kay jewlers box. Im so giddy at this point. Finally I am getting a ring..right?

Nope. Its a necklace.

Edit: Guys.. The necklace was absolutely beautiful and I was very ..very appreciative. I love this man. I would never turn my nose up to anything he gave me, even if it cost 5 dollars. He spent 700 dollars on the necklace...and im the 2 weeks leading up to Christmas, he made me believe it would be a ring. That's all. I love the necklace. I haven't once taken it off.
