Boys play kitchen?

My son loves playing with his cousin’s (girl) kitchen set. I was looking into a gender neutral one to get him but my husband said that would be weird bc kitchens are more for girls. I really don’t see anything wrong with him liking kitchens?! Whatever makes him happy. I was looking at tool benches or something but they just don’t have the cabinets he likes that the kitchen sets have. What are your thoughts on this? Do you find it weird or support what they like??!
I think it’s super cute. He watches mommy put things away in cabinets/cooks and he wants to do the same 🤷🏽‍♀️

Cooking, cleaning, or kitchens are not gendered. Your husband is acting insecure and strange about it. Teaching your child to play cook is bad? Or to play wash dishes? No way. Those are great things to build excitment about and to learn.

My husband wasn’t stoked at first because he was still caught up in the old school patriarchal mindset and damaging heteronormative thinking that is ingrained in us from super early on. But it’s super important to me personally to challenge the bullshit. So, my son has dolls (that he prefers to throw around than nurture) and a play kitchen and will continue to be able to play with any toys he wants and wear whatever he wants, despite societal norms.

In my opinion, all toys are gender-neural (or should be).  My husband does 95% of the cooking in our household and, when my daughter plays kitchen, she is mimicking him.

Most of the highest paid and famous chefs in the world are male! This whole gender stereotyping is ridiculous! 
Both my older sons, now 7 and 3, got a play kitchen before our daughter was ever conceived, and still play with it now. 
If it brings them joy who cares if it’s for a “boy” or “girl”. I’d rather them be happy!

I agree with the other two ladies. I think it’s totally fine to get a kitchen set for a little boy. If your husband is really adamant about it and will not budge, they make play grill sets that have a similar set up to the kitchens. My friend just got one for her twin boys and they love it.

Get the kitchen! It’s about what your kid likes not what your husband thinks he should like. Our son plays with our 3yr olds doll house and it will keep him entertained for 45min to an hour!

We’re definitely getting my son a kitchen. Sams club had a wooden one during Christmas that was pretty gender neutral and I’ve been kicking myself for not buying it when I saw it. Hoping when I go soon it’ll still be there. He’ll also most likely have a “work bench” type toy set up too eventually(mainly because his father is a carpenter and grandfather is a plumber. He’ll always be surrounded by tools). But my son will know how to cook and clean and help out around the house. So why not have him playing with that stuff when he’s young 🤷🏼‍♀️

My son has a play kitchen. We bought him one for his birthday back in October and he loves it! I suggested it to my husband because my son was always playing with his cousins and my husband bought it right after. I don’t see anything wrong with it 🤷🏽‍♀️
