Anyone’s 17month old not talking?

My son has yet to form any words and I’m getting a little concerned. He knows what everything is and will hum along to songs and understand what’s what but he hasn’t tried to say any words besides his sisters nick name which is “Mima” and he says “mma!”

My son will be 18 months in January and doesn’t say any words. Lately he makes sounds like Tarzan and he babbles. We have his 19 month appointment in a couple weeks. We will look into whether or not we need to do speech therapy or not but honestly I’m not that worried about it yet. Every kid is different

Only worry if your pediatrician does, honestly. Each child goes at their own pace. My kiddo wasn't saying anything at all (pure babble without any word attempts or mimicry at all) and just a week ago started attempting more words and syllables. 🤷🏻‍♀️ We didn't do anything different, just kept asking him questions and giving him simple instructions as we've been doing.
Also, the worst case scenario at this stage is that your ped would suggest they go to a speech pathologist and make sure there aren't any hearing/vision/etc problems getting in the way of their progress. Personally I don't find that stressful; I'd rather my kid get any assistance they would need asap. It's unlikely there is anything to worry about yet though, so take heart. 😊

My girl is saying some words but very few. I wouldn’t be too concerned just yet. She actually makes more animal noises than words lol & uses some sign language. Everyone is different. He could wake up tomorrow & start talking.

Mine isn't really talking either. Lots of jibber jabber and strings of babble that sounds like sentences or counting numbers.

My LO isn’t saying any words yet & he’ll be 18 months in January. He babbles a whole lot & sounds like he has a lot to say, makes eye contact, makes funny facial expressions when he talks sometimes but other than that no words. mayyyybe he says momma when he’s crying but seldom.

My daughter really only babbles and will occasionally say mama when she’s upset. She can make some animal noises when we ask her to. And lately she tries to say E-I-E-I-O when old Macdonald plays.
