When to use humidifier? Baby has mucus

I can hear some mucus in my almost 4 week old when he breaths, I’m gonna make a call the his doctor but until they can get me in I want to try and help. I never used a humidifier with my order kids, so I’m not sure when to use it. It’s pretty cold outside & the heater is up to 73 on auto if that matters.

The heat maybe drying him out. 
You can run a humidifier anytime, I do it during naps and sleep.
Or a really really hot steam shower and you just sit in there with him. 
Also if you have a bulb you can use that to suck some out

we use a cool mist humidifier; and use one of those vicks plug ins if needed

Cool mist humidifier in their room or wherever they sleep.  You can run it while they sleep or anytime.  
Nasal saline spray and a bulb syringe to help relieve some of the mucus.  
Steamy bathrooms will also help with congestion.  
Maybe make an appointment with baby’s primary.  
Monitor for fevers and worsening symptoms.

We use the humidifier any time my daughter is in her room as a preventative to dry airways causing mucus. We have it turned up to high because I noticed that she was waking up with a crusty nose from the heat running

Yeah definitely try the humidifier. It gets super dry where I live so I have it on every night.
