Last Name dispute

Am I being unreasonable....

We were talking about names for our little boy due in July, I mentioned to him that when the time comes, if things are rocky or the future doesn’t hold us getting married, I want our son to have my last name.

My reasoning being that I would like to have the same last name as my one and maybe only child. His ex will continue to use his last name as that is their girls last name.. I don’t find it fair that even his ex would have the same last name as my son when I wouldn’t.

We are not married, his divorce with his ex whom he already shares two daughters with is due to be finalised in the next few months..

Things are generally pretty good between us but we do need to learn to communicate better.. He is one that likes to sweep things under the rug and I like to be able to talk things through and resolve issues so that we don’t keep arguing about the same thing.

He is a good man and is a loving dad, so I do want to make this work but communication is a big deal and I see it as a potential downfall to our relationship if we can’t work on this.
