Does your partner have life insurance ?

My husband (twenties) and I are about to have our second child, and we bought a home this year. I’m a stay at home mom and recently watched saw someone who was also a SAHM lose their husband and was at a loss financially on where to go from there.
It has made us really think of getting life insurance. Do you know anything about it? Would it be okay to get term life insurance for 10 years then after switch to another company?

Life insurance is so important!! Losing a spouse is devastating. You don’t want to add financial hardship on top of that and not be able to have the luxury to take some time off to grieve.

Def do term life insurance, and make sure to take out enough to (at the very least) adequately replace the lost income if something were to happen to your husband. 
You should also have a policy for you in the event that something happens to you and your husband has to pay for childcare, and keeping up the home.

Yes my husband has life insurance. A little through his job then we also have a separate 2 million dollar policy for him.
He’s only 31 but we both want to make sure that our kids & I would be financially secure if anything happened to him. 
Especially after buying an expensive home this year, and him being the bread winner. I couldn’t afford it without him currently.

Absolutely. I’m a SAHM and I have a policy for my husband. My mom has one for my dad. It’s completely necessary.

My partner didn’t have any kind of insurance or will. Thankfully my financial situation is a little bit better, but that first year and a half was really hard on top of already having to deal with the emotions of everything, the grief, being a single parent, losing the love of my life. I definitely recommend getting it.

We both have life insurance. What we have each is enough to pay off our new home, all of our vehicles & pay our current bills up to a year. I’m a stay home mom/housewife and my husband is medically retired from the Army (combat related, decorated Purple Heart Recipient). If he was to leave this earth tomorrow, I would receive his military pension until I die or remarry. Along with have health insurance until one or the other, and would get his SSI for our kids until they are 18 or 23 (in college). 
But if I were to die, he could pay off all of our revolving debt and have a cash fund to help support him during the next year. 
We set this up before we got married for just in case.

My husband has 1 million (500K through Allstate & 500K through work). I have 500K. Both of our policies are term. I pay 24.50 per month through Allstate for 300K (non smoker) and 20.00 per month through work for 200K. It’s so important. One of my good friends died in a horse accident a few years ago and left his young son & wife with no life insurance. It’s been hard for them.
