Do I get my girlfriend a gift or no

I'm so lost right now. Me and my girlfriend's last two anniversaries have been bad because of gifts. Our one year she said we weren't doing any gifts. So I didn't get her one and she got pissed at me(she didn't get me anything either). She said I just proved she doesn't matter to me and broke up with me. I apologized and told her I would take her to pick out whatever she wants, so she picked out a new IPhone and we got back together

At our two year anniversary she again said no gifts, so I took that as she wants a gift so I bought her a promise ring. Apparently I did THAT wrong too! I gave it to her and she said I did that to make her feel bad and look bad for not getting me a gift. So she was mad at me all night.

Do I get her a gift this year or no because I am very confused.
