Confused on ovulation test

Hello All, I am new to trying for baby number 2. We had our first daughter 3 years ago and now looking to grow our family. I am 34 years old and I decided to use ovulation tests to help us conceive. I had my period on Thursday Jan 7th and officially ended it yesterday. This morning, I thought I should try to start testing even though I didn’t expect to get a line until day 14 of my cycle. I received a faint line today and was confused. Was it too early to test? I am not regular with my cycle.
