Can I do oatmeal cereal for baby instead of rice cereal?

I was wanting to do oatmeal for my baby. Is there even a difference?

I didnt think it mattered lol my baby gets Oatmeal cereal and I mix different baby food flavors to keep it interesting lol

I used oats not rice because rice has no nutritional value.  I also ground my oats in a blender instead of buying the overpriced baby cereal.

Its outdated and no longer recommended or safe to give baby oatmeal or cereal! If they’re under 6 months and hungry, more formula/breastmilk. 6 months and over, you can go straight to purées. :)

If its for a baby just starting food then it needs to be oat baby cereal not just oatmeal as baby cereal is super fine so they don't choke. It is probably healthier then rice cereal.

Absolutely. Pediatricians don’t really recommend rice cereal anymore. There’s oatmeal, quinoa, multi grain/barley...all with more nutritional benefits than rice.

Yes. We never used rice cereal. We only ever used baby oatmeal (in addition to other foods like fruits and veggies).

I’d use real oatmeal (like old fashioned oats - it’s what I used) instead of the oatmeal cereal. Babies don’t have to have either if you don’t want them to 🤷🏻‍♀️. It’s up to what you as the parent want them to have.
