Getting pregnant with low BMI
Please help.
I need to hear from anyone who either has had a child, is pregnant or having fertility issues that are also “petite” or considered “underweight” per BMI.
Backstory: I’m 100 pounds and just 5’1.5” so my BMI is just underweight. This is not intentional I just have always had this body type regardless of what I eat or exercise. I’ve read body fat is needed to become and maintain pregnancy due to role it plays in hormones. I have regular cycles every 30-32ish days and have ovulated per opk so I assume my cycle is normal. But it’s been 12 months TTC and I’m just needing to hear other stories of women in a similar situation. I’m working hard to gain weight but I’ve always been this size, I’m active in that I run a mile maybe 2 times a week, do some yoga and maybe one 60 min HIIT workout a week. Max I workout 3 days a week but only one day is intense as I’m trying not to over so it. I’ve cut down on my work outs immensely since March 2020. I was placed on Clomid to boost chances in past and while I ovulated I didn’t get pregnant. I had terrible mood swings on clomid and decided after two months of it to try supplements (coQ10, maca). My husband’s sperm analysis was normal. We are otherwise healthy, active, eat mainly plant based diet with chicken, eggs and cheese mixed in. I’m very healthy in diet and daily life style. Taking supplements and prenatal. I go to chiropractor. I will get hormones checked this month. I’m 27 and husband is 30.
