Do you find it annoying when people REALLYY drag out a joke?
I’m 20 weeks pregnant with my son. My family is big into football, the obsessed kind that scream at their TV and get really pissed off when their team loses. I always found it obnoxious so I don’t care for football and thankfully neither does my SO. We are thinking that unless he shows interest in football later on, that it’s not a habit I want to get him into.
I was visiting my siblings today and my dad made a joke about how he would get him into football... After cussing out the TV and slamming his fists around. For background, we are really strained bc he shows narcissistic behavior, he’s very fake, and was basically absent from my life even tho we lived together until I moved out w my SO. I tried to be nice and joked back saying that it was boring and probably would be boring for the baby in the future too.
In the next hour, my dad probably brought it up about 15 times if not more (not even exaggerating) how he would get him into football, teach him how to “kick ass when he gets mad”, how he would get him into football even if I didn’t want him to, how he would join a team one day, and even started “talking to him” through my stomach. And he would just repeat it over. And over. And over. It’s all he would talk to me about for the rest of the night and he said that he plans on talking about it again tomorrow. If I try to ignore it (I didn’t want to say anything bc you never know what will make him flip out) he’ll pick up on it and say something like “you can ignore me all you want but I’m getting him a bunch of football stuff”.
Idk if I’m just being hormonal but I found it REALLY annoying REALLY quick. The first few times it was funny, but after that it got old. It’s not funny anymore, it’s just really uncomfortable, and in my mind, confirms my feelings about the subject.
