My sons first birthday I got him an entire 8” round cake with zoo animals on it that was chocolate AND vanilla two layer cake with vanilla buttercream frosting decorated. I just put down a shower curtain took his clothes off except for diaper and put the cake in front of him 😂 it was fricking hilarious he didn’t know what to do with it until I told him to eat it and once he tasted it huge handfuls were smashed into his face.. kid got so cake drunk 😆

My daughters first birthday her cupcakes were vanilla which colored vanilla frosting

We did vanilla cake with chocolate frosting. We stripped him down and had him in his high chair so it was easy to clean.

I’d probably do chocolate cake and some with vanilla, some with chocolate frosting. The white frosting is a bit easier to wash out 😂 but I’m a chocolate fiend so I’d lean that way
