Clomid a 2nd time?

Question

Any mommas require clomid support to get pregnant the first time have to take it again to try for second baby? Just found out I can’t breastfeed while taking it & am already so sad at the thought of stopping to try for a second 😢

I was on fermara to help regulate my cycles with my first, ended up getting pregnant while taking a break from treatments, but still feel the meds helped my body figure out what to do. (She took 3 years to conceive) With my second we stopped preventing when my daughter was 7.5ish months as my cycle came back at 6.5m pp. We decided to just see where things went and my cycle was pretty regular and we got pregnant with our June baby after 2 cycles!

Molly is correct, I was on Clomid to get pregnant with my daughter Ella (third round of Clomid). I actually did not know that you can’t breastfeed while taking Clomid, but it makes sense since one of the main reasons to take Clomid is to help regulate your cycle and help you get pregnant. We are planning to start trying when Ella is closer to a year, but at my 6 week checkup I asked my doctor about going back on Clomid to get pregnant again he said to track my cycles and see how they looked once I had a few periods (my period only just came back in December) and if we ttc for 1-2 cycles and feel  like my periods were too out of wack for it to happen naturally I could come in and he would put me right back on Clomid. My cycles before I got pregnant were about 32 days, I ovulated late and my luteal phase was short, hence the Clomid to help all those things. I am hoping pregnancy and birth kinda kick-started my cycles to be more “normal”, but we shall see 🤞I was exclusively pumping up until 6.5 months, so I won’t be much help with advice when it comes to stopping breastfeeding and fertility meds, but I totally get not wanting to lose that bond. I agree with what Molly said though- don’t think of it as stopping because you don’t want to do it anymore, think of it as stopping because you want to give your child a sibling ☺️ and that is a beautiful gift to give them! There are absolutely other ways to keep that bond with them too- rocking with them, giving them a baby massage,  looking in the mirror together, play dress up and have an at home photoshoot, baby wear, dancing with them, singing/reading while snuggling with them, and just getting on the floor and playing with them ❤️

I understand the mom guilt, though. Just know that stopping breastfeeding does not make you an awful mom. You’re amazing for doing it for so long!! And giving your child a sibling/expanding your family is a great reason to change your plans. ❤️

I want to follow this also. I got pregnant on my first round of a similar medicine after a year of trying. I think I’m done breastfeeding at 1 year(6.5 months now). So it might now be an issue for us
