Has anyone done mommy and me classes?

I'm debating trying one with my 16 month! There's mommy and me (age 1-5) gymnastic class that I think would be fun. But what age do you think is the right age to go? I don't want to go and have to chase my son around the whole time instead of being able to participate in the class. Has anyone tried a class with their toddler?

I would totally do it if Covid and lockdown weren't a thing haha my boy is a bundle of energy and I'd love something more structured to help him burn some of it off.
I did mommy and me group when he was 4-6 months and loved it for both of us (mostly for me probably haha) and was so mad when covid shut it all down.

So speaking from experience as a former gymnastics coach, when I taught mom, dad, and me classes, a lot of the younger kids would run around as it was all so new. BUT once they started getting into a routine and seeing what was expected, a lot of the kids would soon start to “slow down” and follow along. Then when I would teach older classes such as ages 3-5, those kids that started young were so much easier to teach! You could tell the difference in the kids that started young vs the kids who wanted to do gymnastics because someone they knew was doing it. So much harder to have to teach them the basic skills - especially listening skills.
