I might be getting a Lab! What do I need to know?

Hey y'all! I am looking for a pet and I am curious what food and treats do you guys labs like? Just curious! Her name is Roxy 😜😜 Any tricks or tips are appreciated!

We have a black lab who’s 6. He’s great and I don’t think we’ll have any other type of dog. One thing I will say though is get pet health insurance. My poor guy has slight arthritis and he had a tumor under one of his canines. He had it removed but it came back so we had to get it, the tooth and a little bone removed too so it wouldn’t come back again, so now he has three canines... and most recently a chronic ear infection. So these are expensive things but with health insurance we were refunded all but the deductible. We use Healthy Paws Pet Insurance. 
In regards to food, he’ll eat anything. But we give him Natural Balance L.I.D. lamb meal and brown rice. Treats vary but no rawhide. He goes crazy for bull sticks. Be sure to put the food in a secure place because labs are smart and typically VERY food motivated so they’ll find a way to get at it. I learned that lesson early when he tipped over the food bin, chewed the locking handle off, and ate 3/4 of the food until he literally passed out because he was so full.
Also, they’ll make you be way more tidy. Leaving food out will be a thing of the past. No bread on the counter, etc. I once left wasabi out and my dog ate it. It’s not bad for him but he did throw up some green foam.

I had a chocolate lab for 9 years and she was literally the sweetest do I ever has. As far as food most labs like everything. Thats why they are prone to put on weight as adults. I recommend asking the current owner what food shes currently eating and start with that then get a reccomendation  your vet and switch if needed. As far as treats go our lab loved veggies. Carrots, apple, broccoli all made good treats as well as regular dog treats. You are picking a wonderful dog breed that tends to be loving, gentle and easier to train than a lot of other breeds.
