Can passing gas be painful ?

My baby girl is 5 weeks old. I’ve been giving her breast milk and a little bit of formula a day since day 1. Recently like 2 days ago she started screaming to the top of her lungs every time she has to fart or poop. She can be in the middle of her sleep and she’ll start screaming until she can pass gas, then she’ll suddenly stop and keep on snoring like nothing happened. Is this normal? I know that babies that are formula feed have a harder time digesting it but my LO doesn’t get that much formula to begin with. Em I doing something wrong, em I missing something. It breaks my heart to hear her scream like that. 🥺

We lived in Mylicon Gas Drops from about 3 weeks till 6/7 weeks. We also used gripe water if she was extra fussy. We also bought the Frida Windi Pipes, which in full disclosure are disgusting, but it gave her immediate relief on extra gassy days! Our pediatrician said that it should get better at 2 months (which is on 2/5) and it has already started to get better! Shes learned how to push and relax to let gas pass. She still struggles a little But it’s way better!!!

Yes use gas drops or gripe water my children always respond best to gas drops.

Yep my baby also did this when he had gas. Now he just sometimes has a hard time pooping but isn’t constipated. Gas drops are good to use but I had major success with windi by frida baby! It’s kind of gross but when they have a lot of gas or poop and they need to get it out, this helps so much.
