Soo long story short my grandma and I don’t talk anymore for ridiculous reasons but we rent from the same guy (we don’t live together) but he decided to tell her that I’m short on rent ($100) but I asked him not to tell her bc I don’t want her in my life anymore and she doesn’t need to know my business so my question is it legal for him to tell her that I’m short 100 or not? In the state of VA.

Pretty sure there’s no confidentiality agreement between landlords and tenants... 🤷🏻‍♀️ He can talk about you to whoever he wants.

He should as an adult and landlord not go around telling anyone that info wether or not your family. I don’t think you can do anything about it other then talk to him though.

He can there isn't a privacy agrree and thst doesn't cover rent being late

He can say whatever he wants really. It isn't like he was lying and he shouldn't be put in the middle of your family drama.
