I am 26 weeks along & found out my son has whats called a duplex kidney (photo below) at my 20 week anatomy scan, while this is usually harmless & manageable his is causing swelling in his bladder & urine reflux back up to his kidney. This in the long run can cause kidney damage so he will have to have a surgery called ureteral reimplantation when he is 2 or sooner if it starts causing damage sooner than 2. While he’ll live a perfectly normal life it still sucks to know he’ll have to be cut open so young☹️ the doctor said its pretty rare but anyone else deal with this?
