14 DPO, 2x negative tests and no period!

Oh ladies why is this journey so up and down! Period never late, at most by a day every now and then! Took two tests, both were negative. Worst part was I used a different test, read it wrong and at first thought I was pregnant :( Is it better to wait a week after your period is due? Trying to navigate through this each month. I know there could still be a chance as my period is still not here.
