I knew this “man” for over a decade and he decided to take it upon himself to take advantage of me one night while we were watching a movie.

I filed a police report and had an exam done, but he’s not making a statement so they don’t have enough to go forward without that. It was assault, just not enough clarity with what they have without his statement.

I don’t know whether or not to tell my family/friends that still entertain his company. It’s hard because it feels invalid since it won’t be going to court. But at the same time I KNOW what it was, discussed with my therapist the entirety of history and what happened and same with the police. And both confirmed.

I did NOT however tell the police or my therapist that he had a gun on him. However he wasn’t attempting to or even thinking about using it on me I don’t think which is why I didn’t mention it.

I don’t think he’s a threat outside of a dating relationship, and guessing what he did he’s tried lots of times and had it go a different way. It’s also tricky with his family being really involved with my parents church..

Editing to add he had the gun because he has his ccw and takes it everywhere. I knew of it prior and was ok with it as I trusted him and made sure he placed it safely.
