Do you still talk to the other parent ?

For my single ppl or ppl who have kids by someone you are no longer with. If you have older kids do you still communicate with the other parent? My ex for some reason thinks because we have kids that we are bounded for life. I think once kids reach a certain age especially 18 that we do not need to speak ever again. Am i being irrational on this? It just seems weird to still communicate when our kids are in their 30s. I’m pregnant by him now and we have a 1 year old so im not that old yet lol

I’m over 40 and my parents still sometimes communicate. Like I’ve gotten sick and had to be put in a coma and I know they spoke everyday during that time. When they don’t talk, as both are now remarried, they ask about each other through me 🙄. 
My ex and I have a daughter and we rarely talk. We don’t get along. I will call him if I need to and vice versa but it’s rare.  
My parents grew up together in a small town so I think that’s more why they still will talk. Families are close were we come from and they’ve been together since they were young teens.

Depends. I mean calling eachother after you can just call the child directly? No, not necessary. But my uncle and ex wife attend their grandkids events and are civil. They civilly chat, it’s not awkward. They both have SO now too.

Will in my case sperm donor hasn't spoken to me since he move states for a chick. Been 2 years going on 3. 
Honestly depends on how good of a relationship between parents are. I do agree after kids are adults you don't necessarily have to speak to the other person anymore. Though please at least be an adult at family events. 
 My parents divorced when I was like 10 officially. Like never talk to each other. My brothers and me had to ask mom if it was okay to spend time with my dad or stay the night. She mostly left it up to us if we wanted to unless there was something plan. 
🙃 I find it was very dumb they or she couldn't be an adult. They didn't even talk at my brother's wedding either. My mom from what I saw kept her distance from dad's side also.

My husband stopped talking to his ex wife once the kids were old enough to communicate with each parent.
