Favoring one kid
Anyone else have family members who favor your oldest child over your youngest? My SO's immediate family does it a lot and it bothers me. They love playing with my oldest daughter who turned 2 in December, but don't show much attention to my 7 month old boy. It hurts my heart. I dont know if i'm just an overly observant person or what, or if this is a normal thing people do. I would hate for there to be a sibling rivalry especially when they grow older. I try so hard to divide the attention and i wish family would do the same. Also, SO's mom flew into town and we asked her to watch the kids with my SO's sister so that we could go on our first date night in over a year. SO and I were out for an hour until his mom and sister asked us to come back home because they didn't know how to manage little ones crying from being upset. I was devastated that we had to cut our date really short, and it made me question how my SO's mom even raised 2 kids under 2. I feel guilty for questioning her parenting when her kids were my kids age. Maybe im just selfish and wanted more time to my SO. But last night I was working a nightshift and my SO's siblings and mom came over to play with the kids. My little one was crying and uncomfortable because he was teething and SO said they were being inconsiderate, and extremely loud and egged on my oldest to be loud and rowdy, more than she normally is. His mom told him to just leave the baby crying and have him cry it out. After he told me that, I got upset when i got home. I'm not for cry it out, but i try not to look down on those who use that method. Its not for me, but he was teeeeething! Why ignore him if he's teething and in pain 😔 hearing thst makes me not trust anyone with my babies, especially when one is favored more than the other.
