Any tips on how to stop breastfeeding without getting mastitis?

I weaned over about a month and had no problems. I eventually dropped to just one feed a day and would space it longer and longer until it was once every 2-3 days and then I just stopped. No engorgment! Just take it very slow.

I think slowly weaning would help prevent mastitis. Letting your milk supply adjust to less and less feedings. Drop another feeding every few days or so

Are you pumping at all? If you are don't pump until empty. Keep allowing just a little bit of milk to stay behind. Similarly feed baby solid food first before nursing so that he doesn't drain you completely. What you want is your body to start slowly getting the idea that it needs to produce less and less milk, and the best way to do that is to not drain completely

When I weaned mine, I got her to the bottle first. Then I stretched my pumping windows by a hour each day for almost a week. I also didn’t pump until I was empty and used cabbage leaves. No idea what they do - but everyone said cabbage leaves and sports bra. I didn’t have any mastitis issues.
