When did you start storing colostrum for birth?

Curious when you started and if you were thankful to have it!

I started at 37 weeks but I never used it. Baby hated the taste once she was older. I was able to donate it to a friend whose baby was premature, so that was a blessing. Otherwise it would have been pointless.

I never understood collecting before birth. Your body won’t make milk till baby is born and baby’s feeding is what helps your body to regulate was is needed. Once baby is born your hormone changes make colostrum immediately produce in most. Their tummies are so small. They don’t need a lot those first few days (even works)

My midwife asked at my 35 week app if I'd like to do it in preparation, gave me syringes and told me not to start before 37 weeks

There is no need for that 🤷🏻‍♀️ you have it when you give birth and milk comes in a few days later depending. I don’t think it’s recommended to start pumping before birth.
