LO Soy Allergy

Jessica

My 7 week old has a soy allergy and this is now the second time I’m cutting it out. The first time I eliminated soy and nuts, as I already eat dairy and gluten free. About two weeks after cutting soy and nuts out of my diet my baby seemed 1000x more comfortable. She wasn’t colicky anymore and she finally started to sleep without being woken up from awful gas pains.

I accidentally consumed soy 5 days ago and now her symptoms have returned, and although not as aggressive, she’s still sooo uncomfortable. Sleep is yet again disturbed. I feel so awful and I am at a loss for what to do.

Should I switch to a hypoallergenic formula for a week or two? All of the formulas seem to have terrible reviews and are full of junk. Any tips on flushing soy protein out of breastmilk? Or helpful hints at all (gripe water and gas drops don’t seem to help but we’re still using them).

I don’t want to accidentally wean my baby or lose/ have a dip in my supply. Breastfeeding is so important to me and I want to continue to give her all it’s benefits, but she seems miserable.
