What happens when you don’t agree?

I’m starting to get really worried about what will actually happen when (pg) the baby arrives and me and my husband still don’t agree on a name?
Has anyone been in this position before? Does one of us just need to settle on a name we don’t like as much? 
For a girls name... he prefers Mila, I prefer Avery. For a boy, we just can’t even agree on a top two!!

I think you just keep trying to find a name you both love! Your child’s name isn’t something you settle on! If you don’t both live it, it probably means that it’s not the name ☺️ my friends took a few days after the baby was born to settle on a name. She said seeing and getting to know the baby helped.

You can always have one as first name one as middle name. One will have to compromise or you will need to come up with new name altogether.

My husband and I can never decide and argue the entire time when we try to think of names. He doesn’t really think about it seriously at all until the kid pops out. The first baby we stayed up all night the day after she was born writing names on the whiteboard in our hospital room and researching name meanings. Finally compromised on a name we both loved. 
Second baby, another girl- we couldn’t agree on a name AT ALL, eventually the nurse was like look you need to fill out the birth certificate before you can go home. Hubs was so tired that he just gave up and agreed on my choice. 
Third baby, I told him he could chose but I had to like it. We knew it was a boy from 10 weeks on. The only name he could come up with was one I didn’t like, lol. There were 2 whole weeks where the baby had no name bc he couldn’t think of anything. Finally he had to just pick one from the list I had given him on the day he was born. Our families made fun of us for months.

Make 2 lists of names...one for him and one for you. Rank each other's name choices and narrow it down from there. If it's narrowed down and you still can't decide, put the remaining names in a hat or box, jumble it and pick one.
Or.....for this baby, you pick the first name, he picks the middle name. For the next baby, he picks the first name, you pick the middle name. 
Or..... start polling the rest of the family on your list of names. (Moms, dads, siblings, cousins, maybe best friends too etc).

Both of you should at least really like the name, even if it's neither person's first choice. There are a few options....do a first and middle name compromise, or if one of you feels more strongly about disliking one of the names then the other "wins", or go back to the drawing board and each of you write 10 or so new names you haven't discussed yet and exchange lists as a brainstorm.

I’d recommend merging them and having one as the first and the other as the middle name, at least that way it’s less of an argument since both names are together if that makes sense
