Is the glucose test safe for baby?

I’m probably overthinking, but I just saw a video of a mom who said the ingredients in that drink are toxic and that there are tons of unnecessary dyes and flavorings. She said there is also something called bvo that is really bad for baby. Anyone know anything about this?

Its a greater risk to have undiagnosed GD than anything the drink could have in it in my opinion....

My orange flavored drink didn’t have any dye in it. It was just clear. Idk about the other ingredients but I had to take the test twice and my baby is absolutely healthy

Okay so I’ve posted about being concerned with this before, and folks on this app will just gang up on you without any real information or alternatives. But! I’ve done a bunch of research, and yes the Glucola drink is nasty and loaded with preservatives, food dyes, and brominated soybean oil (BVO), which is an additive that has been banned in Europe, India, and Japan. That doesn’t mean that you should opt out of the GD test, but you should definitely research 50g glucose alternatives and talk to your provider about substituting the Glucola with fruit, a fruit juice that has 50g of sugar, jellybeans, etc. - google “50g Glucose Equivalent” and you’ll find tons of way healthier options than the Glucola beverage that is provided for the GD test. If you’re uncomfortable with any potential risks associated with the drink your OB will provide alternative options.
Many doctors will have you eat a carb-heavy breakfast, eat a specific number of jelly beans OR, you can do at-home glucose testing 4 times a day (fasting and at either 1 or 2 hours after eating a meal). I have opted out of the drink with both pregnancies as it makes me unbelievably ill.
