8 months PP and still no period, can I still ovulate?

We are wanting to start TTC for baby #2 in the next couple weeks, however I’ve not yet gotten my period back. 
I exclusively breastfeed and thought it would’ve come by now as some of my friends who also breastfeed with a baby below 1 have all gotten theirs back. 
My question is have you gotten pregnant without a period whilst breastfeeding? Can I still ovulate and track ovulation without a period?

I exclusively breastfed for 21months, I didn’t get my cycle back until 11months pp. I got pregnant at 21months pp that’s why I stopped breastfeeding (it hurt soooo bad, that’s how I knew I was pregnant) but unfortunately that ended in being a chemical. It took almost a year after I weaned for my cycle to fully regulate. Everyone is different, but breastfeeding tells your body that you already have a baby so it doesn’t need to make another currently so it’s kind of like a natural birth control. My dr told me that usually in women that “over produce” milk it takes their bodies a little longer. Which I was like a mega milk machine so makes sense.

I got pregnant while EBF without having my period back. I think it was the first time I ovulated I had a ton of fertile discharge... and it was around a time my baby was sleeping through the night. My friend has been breastfeeding her son almost 2 years and she hasn’t gotten her period back. Everyone is different

No, if you’re not having a period you are not ovulating!

Technically you will get a period if you ovulate. But if you ovulate for the first time pp and get pregnant you wont get a period. So you can get pregnant if you havent had period (if you ovulate), but you may not be ovulating since you havent had a period. I EBF 14 months and had my first period 6 or 7 months pp, so your cycle may just be restarting now. You can try OPK to see if you get an LH surge or just not protect and see if you get pregnant.

You will have to stop breastfeeding if you intend to get pregnant. I didn't have a period for 12 months while breastfeeding, and towards the end I was only feeding once a day, and still no period. It returned 2 weeks after I stopped completely. No ovulation = no chance of pregnancy
