Hospital Bag?!?

Question

FTM - currently almost 28 weeks. When should I be packing my hospital bag?! 
Haven’t had any complications so far but got referred to see high risk in 2 weeks and just want to be prepared if they tell me I need to go to L&D. 
I’m very much a planner and again being a FTM I don’t want to be under prepared and it come as a shock and not be ready if they decide to send me at any point in time.
Should I start packing it now / ordering things to pack now vs waiting a few more weeks just as a precaution? 
What are must have items to pack?! 
I feel completely in the dark and unprepared!

I way over packed for my first. I would say something comfy to wear home, a tooth brush/tooth paste, a pump if you go that route (the hospital one sucks) your own pillows, something for the baby to wear home, and some ready to feed formula with nipple heads (incase the hospital refuses to give you any... I’ve heard so many stories of that when a mom puts in her plan she wants to EBF). 
The hospital should supply diapers, sanitary pads for you (but depends are 👌🏻), and formula if you don’t have it outlined in your birth plan. Also, steal everything and all the dermoplast. They can’t reuse it.

I would just start packing it just so you could feel more relaxed, it’s better to be prepared at least that’s how I see it ☺️ I’m also a FTM and I’m due may 20th, I’ve already ordered a few things for my hospital bag on Amazon and it felt good to start getting that bag ready 😊

I’m due May 22nd, just picked up wipes, and will be getting diapers this weekend for baby. I never use the hospital diapers as my first son broke out using huggies and that’s all they buy. I already have the clothes for baby out in his nursery(have had those out for about a month now. I would just say don’t over pack, just essentials, clothes, if you bring pants I would make sure they fit loosely. I bought a night gown with my second that buttoned all the way down because easy for breastfeeding and easier for the nurses to check you down there but also presentable enough if baby ends up in the nicu and you have to walk to them. Just try to be comfy, you may have time to do a little makeup, maybe dry your hair? But hair ties, minimal makeup/hair tools. If your husband is like mine you’ll get a shower and be rushing out because he’s begging for help😂 love him to death and you’d think by his second I’d be able to shower and get ready but now we are at number 4 and I still expect to be rushing to be back to baby. Also outfits with mittens or mittens. Babies nails are super sharp and they will scratch up themselves and you. My second son used to use my boob like a scratching post as he ate. I regretted not having something over his hands. Also I recommend flip flops or shoes easy to slip on and off and your own warm socks. Any electronics and chargers, snacks are always awesome to have, and drinks, and comfy clothes for your spouse along with anything he may need to feel comfortable. Pillow from home, etc. I have learned though a large duffle bag or small suitcase for you, your spouse and baby is normally good enough for the few days you will be there. I hope this helped!

What’s your due date? Mine is May 23rd. I’m about to start packing my hospital bag this week. First pregnancy was an emergency delivery so I didn’t get to pack one that time, it’ll be my first too!

I need to start packing. I don’t think I will make it to 36 weeks for my scheduled c-section and will definitely need a bag ready with the whole covid hospital rules! I’m 28 weeks and I’m going to start this week or maybe next week!

Chapstick, the toothpaste you like, a change of clothes, for you and baby, to go home in, a robe, slippers, and your phone charger.
Everything else is unnecessary. :)

I’ve started picking things up for the hospital bag. Walmart has these handy travel kits now for men and women with all the shower essentials for $5. Tooth brush, tooth paste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, comb, lotion all included and a nice bag to put it all in to prevent leaks. I added a new chapstick and some hair gel to mine. The men’s came with a razor and a shaving cream, mouth wash, 3-1 shampoo, tooth brush, tooth paste, and comb. If you aren’t picky about your toiletries, highly recommend that! That is really all I have gotten so far, I am really waiting for that tax return to hit so I can get my nursing bras and a couple new pairs of leggings.
