Should I buy a fetal monitor?

I'm having the worst pregnancy anxiety! I see that people have at home fetal heart rate monitors to hear the heartbeat. anyone have it and think it is a must have? Not sure if it will make my anxiety better or worse lol! Would love to hear your thoughts!

I bought one. Definitely provides peace of mind. Just don't overuse it and if something doesn't feel right call your doctor don't just rely on that. I couldn't pick up sound til like 16 weeks with it. Bought sonoline b.

It depends....it can certainly trigger the anxiety to be worse if you have any trouble finding the baby’s heart beat. That being said, my husband and I started using one at home around 10/10.5wk and have literally never had an issue finding baby girls heart beat. We are both medical professionals and have used Doppler a before for other purposes at work. It did help my anxiety A TON after three losses prior to this pregnancy, but my OB didn’t love the idea because she was worried I’d have trouble at some point and freak out. Baby girl is moving a ton daily now so I don’t really see much need to check for her heart beat now.  How far along are you? If it’s early, it will be tough to find the heart beat so just be prepared for that.

I think it is a must have just because of covid..... I live in NJ (US) and my husband has not been allowed in for a single appointment (not even during our ivf process). The doppler is enabled him to get to hear his son's heartbeat in person at home!

I didn’t use one for my first pregnancy, but decided to buy one this time around. Due to COVID my husband hasn’t been able to come to any appointments, so the Doppler was a useful tool to help him bond with our baby before he could feel/see her kicks. It also eased my anxiety in the beginning between appointments.

I absolutely love mine, as I suffer from horrible anxiety. I was actually able to find his heartbeat around 9/10 weeks and listen to it every day for a few seconds! I asked my doctor at my appointment last week if it was harmful, because a lot of people on here will say it is, and she said it’s such a low frequency, it’s perfectly fine!

I have one but sometimes I stay away from it I try to only use it 1x per week when I have time. Sometimes I don't find the baby right away (or at all in the earlier weeks) and it gave me more anxiety. My best friend had major anxiety through her first pregnancy and used hers ALL the time and said she wouldn't have survived without it.

I had it with for my first pregnancy but never bothered to use it with my second or third. By the time I could easily find the heartbeat I could already feel baby moving so I didn't need to hear the heartbeat.
