Please consider finding a seat that can accommodate your child’s weight rear facing up to the age of 3. They can learn to cross their legs!!!

When he maxes out his seat. My 4yo is still rear-facing. Most kids don’t mind having their legs bent. My 4yo usually sits cross-legged so no different than if he was on the couch at home.

We live in Australia and the law here allows us to forward face the car seat at the age of 1. I know many countries policies are 2years old but I’m so glad we could do it at 12 months as my son hated rearward facing and we could do trips only during his naps otherwise the whole drive would be screaming.
It was very scary when we first turned him around and I was so worried but as anything, I just got used to it and the stress went away as my kid started loving the car trips!

Our ped. Said it is based on weight and height or when they are 2YO. Our girl is big for her age so they said we could front face her at 21MO. I'm sure every kid is different.

Not until he maxes out his seat. Yeah, he may look comfortable but I’d rather him, God forbid, have a broken leg rather than a broken spine or become internally decapitated because I turned him around thinking he was so uncomfortable.

Our goal is to keep our daughter rear facing until she's 4 if she hasn't maxed out yet. Rear facing as long as absolutely possible is the safest thing.

We already did, as soon as he hit the 22lb minimum. He hated facing backwards where he couldn’t look out the window or see his brother, and would cry and scream the whole trip. For everyone’s sanity we front faced him as soon as we could
