Newborn more bonded with dad than mom?

Question

Am I just over thinking things? My newborn doesn’t stop crying when I pick her up or try to comfort her. Her dad works 12 hour days and I often find myself counting down the hours till he gets home because she’ll instantly stop crying and calm down when he holds her. It’s crazy. She’ll be screaming and crying and I’ll be trying to calm her down and all he has to do is look at her or talk to her and she’ll calm down. She’s been like this since birth in the hospital. She lovessss him and I love that she loves him but I’m starting to think that I’m doing something wrong :( I’m exclusively breastfeeding so I don’t get why she isn’t bonded to me ? My mom says it’s because I don’t know how to relax and she can sense that I’m stressed, meanwhile her dad plays with her and makes her smile and laugh. She’s only 2 weeks old btw.

She probably can sense your stress. Just try to relax and remember that babies go through this. My daughter switches off who she favors. You aren’t doing anything wrong, it’s all normal!

It's ok.  Amd I hate to tell you this but kids almost always think dad is fun lol.  It's like mom is always there.      But try to relax and know it's ok     my eldest was this way and guess what he is a total mommas boy now.    Just try to take deep breaths and try skin to skin aside from breast feeding.

Yes I have the same issue I think she sense it the min he leaves for work, so I do the same thing he work 12 hour shifts 6 days a week so it hard

I had a similar experience with both my babies. I felt like it was honestly bc I was breastfeeding. If they were hungry we had that bond and I could soothe them but if that wasn’t the issue they wouldn’t settle with me and my husband could always figure out how to calm them down. Of course the not setting stressed me out and made the whole cycle worse. They’re 4 and almost 2 now though and incredibly attached to me so it all works out!

Relax and enjoy the process. They can definitely sense the stress. Our daughter is 4,5 years old already and still senses whenever I feel stressed and will choose to play with her dad. It has always been that way ever since she was born and I think, most of the kids are that way. More relaxed you are, more they will want to play/engage with you.

My son was like that for the first couple of months and now at almost 6 months he’s definitely a mommas boy. I just took it as him being used to me and dad was somebody different and a distraction from whatever was upsetting him.

Aww that’s sweet that she has such a bond with her daddy. But yeah babies can definitely sense how you’re feeling. I noticed my son would do this too some days and I honestly think he just needed a change in face sometimes. 🤷‍♀️

I agree- She can sense you’re stress. My kids didn’t like being held since I was with them all the time (SAHM) but they loved dad holding them. I never thought anything of it because they rather be on the floor or bed wiggling around lol..
