Normal Pregnacy Mood Swings or Antenatal Anxiety?
I’m 29 +2 today and have been experiencing severe mood swings and anxiety for the past week. Up to this point I have not experienced any mood swings during pregnancy. Yesterday was especially bad, to the point where I had a full on anxiety attack and was sobbing uncontrollably. After about an hour my mood completely flipped and I felt totally fine/happy. A few hours after that, I had another anxiety attack along with uncontrollable sobbing. I have struggled with anxiety in the past, but I have felt very happy and anxiety free up to this point in pregnancy.
When I woke up this morning I immediately felt anxious and overwhelmed for no apparent reason. My sister is bipolar and there is a lot of mental health issues in my family including anxiety so I’m worried this is more than normal pregnancy mood swings, but I’m a FTM and don’t know if this is normal or not. I’m also worried about how these hysteric moments could affect the health of my baby.
Does this sound pretty typical of 3rd trimester mood swings? I’m planning to ask my doctor of course, but my next appointment isn’t for another 3 weeks.
