Having a family with a first responder spouse

Any women on here have children and their spouse is a first responder? How do you ladies manage every day life , child care etc. We wanna try but I'm afraid to be over whelmed. Obviously he has a very demanding job with all sorts of shifts: days, nights, OT etc. And I also want to continue my job when the baby is born. Please share your routines
