How in love should I be?

I’ve been dating my boyfriend for 7 months now and we recently started saying I love you but it feels so weird to say it, I don’t know why but it’s kinda embarrassing and awkward to say it and hear it when he says it back. I don’t think we’re the lovey dovey type and a part of me feels like I should be a lot more in love with him than I am and to be honest I don’t even know if I am, it’s really really weird. Does this happen to everyone or am I just weird?

Before I say anything I want to mention that we all know everyone and every relationship is different and unique.. but I do feel like if you're 7 months in you would know if you were in love with that person or not. In my personal experience, with my first boyfriend who I almost married, we didn't say I love you until 6 months in and it was pretty awkward but that whole relationship was cringy and it lasted only 3 years and most of the time I would try to win him although I knew we weren't truly in love. But with my now husband it was an immediate thing where I knew we were in love from the start, of course every relationship has their ups and downs where sometimes you don't feel in love but love in my opinion is a choice. And honestly love isn't what keeps a couple together it's commitment it's trust it's respect that keeps a relationship together whether it's a roller coaster ride or not love isn't the reason why someone would stay together but if you know you don't love that person why would you stay with them, if that makes sense lol kind of contradicting but that's life. If you don't see yourself with him in the future then why waste your time with him now

Why did you say it if you're not feeling it? Or if you're not sure you are? That's going to be pretty hurtful to him.

Everyone is different- there is no set marker for how you should feel at this point. I think the most important thing is that your happy and you feel like the best version of yourself when your with him. I mean personally I said I love you about 1 month in, and we are always discussing our future (together) and have been together 5 months. It really is up to you and your SO. There is no rush and no set speed👍
