My son will be 6 months next week and i’ve been exclusively pumping since week 1. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I absolutely hate it but i’m so proud i’ve even made it to this point. However the mom guilt I have for even thinking about stopping is making it really hard, I feel like i’m being selfish and letting my baby down 😭 I don’t know what to do... I’m tired of being attached to this pump and having to plan my days around pumping!!!

We will keep going until we start ttc again (with fertility meds) at the one year mark. Honestly idk what is do if I didn’t breastfeed because it’s a fail safe to get her to settle/sleep/relax etc lol. I’m in awe of non breastfeeding moms because idk how else to even settle my girl really haha

That’s why I quit breastfeeding (even pumping) after 3 weeks. The mom guilt is real, but really for no reason! Your breasts = your business. Whatever is best for you is what’s best for baby too, as long as they’re fed they’re good. They’d rather have formula and a happy mommy than breastmilk and a stressed out unhappy mommy!

I’m planning on stopping in a few weeks. I just wanted to wait until after my second covid vaccine so he could get the antibodies. After that I’m done. I feel like i could get so much more done if I didn’t have to keep stopping to pump along with feeding, changing, and naps.

I’ve breastfeed for 6 months with a bit of pumping here and there and from my experience of manual pumping?
Holy crap you pumping mothers are superheroes. 6 months of that rigid scheduling and fear about maintaining supply? That is intense and you should all be SO proud.
If you’re ready to stop, then it’s time to stop. You have given them breastmilk during the most crucial period and your baby will adjust. (I don’t have experience with formula but  
imagine if they don’t take to the first choice there are lots of different types to try)
Personally, I’ll keep going as long as I can stand it - so far solid foods is a really slow start so we’re still on our usual feeding schedule. If, like you, the time arrives to do formula for what ever reason, I won’t feel guilty either. :-)

There’s no shame in doing what works well for you and baby and your mental health as long as baby is healthy and loved and fed.

I breastfed my first for 17 months and I’ll bf this one as long as I can. 
My SIL exclusively pumped for 11 months and I swear I had so much respect for her. 
If I ever had to exclusively pump I would not have even tried. No hesitation I would have switched to formula. No shame. 🤷🏻‍♀️💁🏻‍♀️
The only reason I bf is because it’s cheaper, doesn’t inconvenience me, and it don’t impact my mental health. 
Exclusive pumping moms are another breed. (A good one) Freaking super human. 
And moms should not have to struggle they any part of mother hood. 💕 if you want to stop for any reason at all, it’s a good reason. Pumping or not. No guilt. 
Also, don’t forget that you’re a bad ass for 6 minutes or 6 months. Moms are bad ass in general. ✊🏻
You can bond just as well with bottle feeding, your SO or other family members can bond easier. If they still wake to eat at night you can have shifts now. You know how much they’re eating. You don’t have to worry about mastitis or clogged ducts. You can wear whatever you want without having to plan boob access. 
If you’re missing some of the “bonding” I recommend getting a ring sling like LoveHeld or a soft structured carrier like a Sakura Bloom and baby wearing.

I’m also approaching six months of exclusively pumping. Just here to tell you that I’m proud of you for sticking it out this long. It is SO HARD to plan days around feeding, napping and pumping. I completely understand.
