Can I feed baby everytime I’m engorged even if he’s not hungry?

He’s almost 9 months and I don’t have a pump because I’m a SAHM and I never really needed one but now that he’s eating real foods more often he doesn’t cry for boobie anymore. I know he’s not hungry but he will nurse anytime I’ll let him I’m just wondering if it’s okay to just feed him just because I’m uncomfortable or do I wait until he’s hungry. Also my mom said that I shouldn’t be getting engorged but I still do is that weird/uncommon?

Don’t force him to feed if he isn’t hungry. You may be uncomfortable but ur body will adjust on its own to what ever he demands.

Your body will start to adjust, don’t try to feed him just to reduce engorgement, that will only signal to your body to keep producing milk in that quantity. It’s uncomfortable when they wean but something you have to go through!

You can hand express out a little just for comfort. Using a pump or even haaka will keep the supply up but it sounds like you can afford to let it off a little.

The more you take out the more you will produce so pumping to empty wouldn’t make sense. It would just tell your body to keep making that much milk. You can express a bit for comfort but you should let your body try and regulate itself so it sees it doesn’t need to keep producing such big amounts.

i agree with firewife, you shouldn’t feed him if he’s not hungry. it might be time to invest in a pump so you’re not uncomfortable. and if you don’t use your pump milk you could always donate it !

No don't feed him if he's not hungry. Try self expressing your breastmilk if it gets too painful but I'd try to only breastfeed when he's hungry and your body will adjust.
