I run basically anything during the night or while I'm gone except the oven

I go to the laundromat but I know a few people who try to get everything done over nights because some electric companies charge less or not at all during certain hours of the night

i refuse to. because the one time i leave it on, that’s when it’ll explode or start on fire. my mom has always been safe about that stuff so by default, so am i. my grandma has burns on over half her body because she was caught in a house fire. i’m not going to risk my life.

I won't let anything run while I'm gone or asleep. I'm really paranoid though. House fires are one of my biggest fears. I live in an apartment complex that has had 2 major fires in the last 3 years (not dryer related, but still).
I had a friend who used to always run her dryer at night. She would switch the laundry over, then go straight to bed. One night, her kitchen was still a mess, so she switched the laundry and then stayed up to clean the kitchen. Her laundry room is right off the kitchen and she started to smell smoke. Her dryer had caught fire. She said because of the way her house is layed out, if she had gone to bed like she normally would after switching the laundry, she and her husband would not have had enough time to get out by the time they knew about the fire.

I have. I work remote now so can do laundry during the day. But before, I would run it at night for time sake

Not something I would personally do. In fact the only electronics / appliances that stay on all the time (except when I'm out) is the fridge, alarm and the internet. Everything else gets switched off at the plug, or at the board when I'm going out. Super paranoid about house fires.
