What’s a solid amount for a 20-24 y/o to have saved before moving out?

Uhhh I had nothing at those ages lol just security deposit + first month’s rent and it was all good lol.

It depends on where you live and what the cost of living is. Before i moved out, i made sure to have enough in savings so that i could survive for 6 months if i lost my job.

6 months in rent a utilities is ideal. 3 months is fine.

that depends if you’re taking about an apartment or a house. i was kicked out with no savings at all. rent total is about $1200 including water/electricity etc. my fiancé had about $2k. now for a house, i’d actually save probably $35k which is 20% of 175k

I live in expensive ass CA and I only saved $5k

Deposit and first months rent of course, and a paycheck (not savings) that covers all bills, and 6 months paychecks worth saved up, and the cost of furniture and things you’ll need, and some left over. That will all depend on how many bedrooms, if you have a roommate, if you’re renting or owning, (owning needs more saved cuz u have to pay for broken stuff), what state you live in, what your job is, if you’re paying off school, if you have other debt you need to pay off first, etc.
