I mean... He tried 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

So we don't have litter boxes.

Well before you go all "you chose to have cats you should always have litter boxes available for your cats"

Our cats always go outside.. To the point that we had litterboxes for decoration. And there is no positive decorative value in a litterbox.

They usually signal us when they need to go outside..

Anyways..

So I went downstairs to do the laundry and the cat was asleep in the livingroom.

When I was doing the laundry he rubbed my leg, then he went into my husband's workroom.

I called him and unlike usually, he didn't come.

So I went to check and he was peeing in an empty workcase..

He obviously took the time to actively look for a litterbox. (empty workcase looks like a litterbox)

He could have signaled to go outside though 😅 (we have a door there)

How could I be mad if he actually tried to find a lotterbox, right?

Updates:

Yes he is neutered, no they're not in a fenced area. The neighbors are ok with that, we live in a catfriendly neighborhood where maybe 70-80% of people in our block own freeroaming cats.

We also live close to rural area where farmers have unneutered cats on their farm anyways.
