TV AROUND NEWBORN/1 MONTH OLD?

Question

Everything I read online is TV around newborns and babies is horrible and delays speech.. I never knew TV was such a big issue. I do hold up Montessori black and white cards with the baby and talk to him throughout the day. Do you let your baby watch TV with you? Is it as big of a deal as the internet is telling me? Also do you have another child you watched tv with as a baby and did it delay their speech?

I've had TV and cartoons on for 8 years all the time! 😂 I have a 8 year old, 4 year old, 1 year old and the new baby and the older kids talk all the time and never had delayed speech issues! I did notice my first talked a lot later than my second and third but I believe that was because he was the only child and he only had Mom and Dad talking to him and not all his sisters and brothers constantly. 🤷

I never had my son around tv until after 1 yr, and even then it was pretty rare until 18 months, and we limit to 1 hour per day unless something is going on like he is sick or we are and need help watching him. I’m hoping to limit this little one as well, though I know it’ll be harder this time. 
My son said over 300 words by 16 months and speaks in full sentences very clearly at 22 months now. I wasn’t as concerned with speech as some of the other side effects honestly, like behavior and attention span. There are no positives though, so it wasn’t worth it for the risk in my opinion. No mom shaming for the moms that need to turn it on. I get that too!

I had the TV on a lot when my daughter was a newborn and at 22 months she has the speech of a 4 year old 🤯🤯🤯 full sentences able to be understood by non-caregivers and asks clarifying questions like “where did the plane go?” So it certainly didn’t delay her at all. I did do a lot of talking to her and book reading too but I’m definitely not worried about TV. typing this as we have toy story on while the baby is napping lol

My tv is on all day I have anxiety if it’s quiet when I’m home with the kids. Both my older two talked early. My kids doctor that has been working with kids for 30 years said my baby girl was the earliest talker he has seen. She said mama, papa, dada, and Ella by four months. She is 2 now and talks better than most adults.

This is my fourth baby and with my other three I always had the TV on like I do now. I am a stay at home mom so my TV is always on and they have not had any delays in their speech. My almost 8 year old knows Spanish and English perfectly. My three year old knows both languages too and my almost two year old knows both as well too and no speech delays from me watching TV around them.

I understand the argument for not having too much screen time for older babies and younger kids but I think for newborns it’s just white noise and their vision isn’t developed enough to see a TV anyway (assuming it’s not two feet in front of their face.)
We have a 5 week old and have the news on all day in the background. Sure hope it’s not harmful! 
We thought we’d start to limit it when we see signs that he’s aware of it and/or can look directly at it intentionally.

My 20 month old has great speech and we do have the tv on in the background during the day. She never sits and watches unless it’s dancing or a craft show. She’s not delayed at all and I had the tv on a lot when she was a newborn.

I have the tv on all the time and I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old. 
My friend who’s a teacher said she can always tell which kids watch tv on the regular and which ones are restricted from it, because when it comes time to use electronics in class, the ones who never have free access to it at home find it the hardest to put it down when it’s time to stop. 
Even though I have the tv on all day, my kids literally don’t even watch it 90% of the time 😅
