How long do you pump?
My baby is a toddler now, but I'm just reflecting back and thinking maybe my breastfeeding experience wasn't average. I exclusive pumped for 9 months. Direct nursing was extremely painful and baby didn't get lots from me that way, suspected tongue tie but none of the consultants I saw said it looked very bad.
It would take me 20-30 minutes on the pump to get a feedings worth. I had multiple pumps and flange sizes but all took the same time. I basically lived on the pump in those early days when it was 2hr apart sessions. Even at 6 months when I was down to 5-6 sessions a day I was still spending 3 hours a day total on the pump in order to get just enough. I didn't have an oversupply or freeze tons, it was just the right amount.
How abnormal is this?
I thought of it because my sister in law excused herself to pump and was back in like 10 minutes 🤔
